The Passion Flower

The Passion Flower is one of the most exotic looking plants you will find in the woods, and along roadsides, in the south. “La Flor de las cinco Llagas" or the ‘The Flower With The Five Wounds,’ as it was known by seventeenth century Spanish missionaries in South America, was used by them to teach the story of the crucifixion (or Passion) of Christ to the South American indigenous peoples.

Passion Flower 2011

Waiting For The Sun

No idea what these are, but I wouldn't be surprised if they are weeds. In any case, they are growing in a very flooded area of Tom Sawyer Park. They have all the water they need, so they're just waiting for the sun.

Fiery Plant

Just really liked the colors of this plant. Could be a tree or a bush, I don't know what it is. It has large, 3 to 4 inch, spike-like thorns on trunk that would run fully through your wrist if you fell on it. I believe now that this is what's known as a Honey Locust tree.
