All go unto one place; all are of the dust, and all turn to dust again.

Shunning the classic swan pose, this swan swam by with its head held high.

Dance Of Life

A beautiful sculpture in my favorite cemetery, Cave Hill Cemetery and Arboretum, Louisville, KY

The plaque affixed to the base of the sculpture reads,

"Dance of Life

By Stephen Canneto
Captured in bronze, using the
ageless lost wax process,
Dance of Life celebrates the joyous
spirit of a life shared by two.
Notice the woman's right arm
and the man's left arm
are one in the same.
And the man's right leg
emerges from the woman's dress
signifying the lifelong bond
between two people sharing the
DANCE OF LIFE."

On This Veterans Day...

"...I feel how weak and fruitless must be any word of mine which should attempt to beguile you from the grief of a loss so overwhelming. But I cannot refrain from tendering you the consolation that may be found in the thanks of the Republic they died to save.

I pray that our Heavenly Father may assuage the anguish of your bereavement, and leave you only the cherished memory of the loved and lost, and the solemn pride that must be yours to have laid so costly a sacrifice upon the altar of freedom.

Yours, very sincerely and respectfully,

A. Lincoln"
